It seems to me, that as the air around us begins to heat up and summer returns, we all start think of vacations! I know my family always keeps one thing in mind when thinking of vacations, water! Seeing as we all love water so much, we usually look for lake rentals for accomodation. As with most things, depending on what your prepared to pay, lake rentals can come in all kinds of price ranges. We used to keep to lake rentals for things like fishing, boating and the like, but we have come to accept lake rentals for what they REALLY are, a good, affordable alterntative to boring hotel rooms.
Last year i remember we went to a theme park, loaded with multiple attractions like roller coasters, music and dance, and a seperate package available for the water park. When we initially found out the cost for spending a day at the water park, our hearts sank as it was quite expensive. We started looking for hotel accommodations and noticed listings for lake rentals. Then we looked up the difference in costs between the hotels in the area, and the lake rentals. See, we would save a ton of money by renting out the whole house, and being able to cook some of our own meals instead of buying them all at restraunts. When we told the kids, they were more than happy at the idea of staying at a lake. This way we gave up the idea of the water park and the costs associated with that for one day and were able to spend portions of each day swimming in the lake. Perfect! Now all we had to do was CHOSE our lake rental. Some of the lake rentals we looked at were run and owned by resorts, while others were privately owned cabins that the owners rented out themselves. We chose a 3 bedroom private lake cabin. For the rental fee we had use of the cabin and the property surrounding it. The owners said we could bring a boat too, and any other equipment we chose to bring along.
When you are looking for lake rentals for your vacation, make sure you asked lots of questions, like what equipment is provided at the location, and what you need to bring yourself. Some private owners have so many rules and a re so strict that I would not feel comfortable staying in their lake rentals, because I would be yelling at the kids constantly over what they could and could not do all day. Remember as you begin to plan you relaxing summer vacation, that lake rentals are an affordable and soothing alternative to renting out a boring hotel room. |
